Updating your kitchen or bath with new countertops can breathe new life into the room. Quartz is combined with polymer resins, engineered to be a superior stone surface. Quartz countertops are available in a wide range of colors and patterns that can fit any home décor, no matter if your style is traditional or contemporary.
The inherent natural qualities of quartz make it similar to granite in many ways, but with superior performance. Quartz is durable and non-porous and an excellent option for nearly any surface. You can find quartz in virtually any color, making it easy to match your aesthetic. It can also mimic the look of natural stone, such as marble, without sacrificing durability..

How To Clean Quartz Countertops
There are a few things you should know about keeping quartz countertops clean. First, you should routinely maintain your counters. Second, you can remove stubborn spots. Finally, with a few easy steps, you can protect your countertop for years to come.
Routine Quartz Maintenance
Routine quartz maintenance is one of the best ways to care for anything around the house, which holds true for your quartz countertops. Routine care will look like this:
- Wipe down the countertops as often as they become dirty. Using a soft rag, warm water, and mild dish soap to gently wipe off the crumbs, spills, and other daily messes.
- Gently scrape off dried debris. If you have hard water buildup, hardened food, or any other debris that has dried onto the counter, be gentle as you scrape it off with a single razor blade.
- Use a quartz-safe degreaser. Grease should be cleaned off your quartz countertop as soon as possible. Check to see that the degreaser is safe for quartz, and make sure it doesn’t contain bleach.
Removing Stubborn Spots
If you leave those stubborn spots for too long, they’re going to end up permanently staining your quartz. If you’ve completed all the steps for routine maintenance, and there’s a stubborn spot still hanging around, you can:
- Rub the spot with isopropyl rubbing alcohol. Use a soft, wet cloth to do this. After you have wiped the spot with the alcohol, wipe it again with a clean, damp cloth.
- Use Goo Gone or another similar adhesive remover. Let it sit on the spot for up to ten minutes, then wipe it off with a soft, wet rag using warm water.
Avoiding Quartz Countertop Damage
While messes and spots happen as a natural part of living in a home, you can protect your countertops with a few easy quartz care tips. These include:
- Always use a cutting board. Quartz is durable, but it is also susceptible to damage. Keep a few cutting boards close by so you can grab one when you need to quickly chop something up.
- Clean up quickly. The longer you let your spills sit on the counter, the more likely they’re going to turn into stains. As soon as something spills over onto the counter, wipe it up.
- Avoid using harsh cleaners. Bleach, oven cleaner, nail polish, and a wide range of other harsh chemicals and cleaners will destroy your quartz. It’s best to just keep them out of the room and away from the counters.
- Keep items at high temperatures off the counter. Extremely high temperatures are going to damage your quartz countertops, so be sure you always have a mat or a trivet when you set a skillet or pot on the counter.
