Limitations of Natural Stone Countertops: 

• Most natural stone requires periodic sealing to prevent staining and water absorption 

• Softer stone, like marble or soapstone, is less scratch resistant and will acquire an aged look with use.  

• Natural stone will contain fissures. While fissures enhance the visual appearance of the material, it may need to be reinforced with resin or may limit where cutting or milling can occur. 

• Heavier than engineered materials, potentially requiring additional structural support 

• Care and maintenance will vary with the type of material selected 

• There will be shading at the seam and book matching will not be exact
